When Greg Gillis a.k.a. Girl Talk started his new album with a Likin' Fucking Park riff I was wondering where his taste went. But I digress, his musical tastes never really have strayed from the mainstream since his previous album Night Ripper. Yet through this series of bumping tracks you'll find yourself listening to a Jimmy Page guitar lick while Eminem is rapping, listening to Vampire Weekend (again!?), M.I.A, Of Montreal, and about every Pitchforked band in existence. And thats only about ten seconds of the actual album.
The entertainment value consistently comes from the "where have I heard that before? was that fucking Handsome Boy Modeling School, what the fuck happened to them?" gimmick that so many mash up dj's rely upon. Mr. Gillis just happens to be ADHD enough to pull it off effectively. I feel bad for the douchbag lawyer who has to count the cases of copy write infringement.
Highly entertaining, yet I feel as dirty listening to this album as I would after suspiciously leaving an asian massage parlor at 2 AM.
